Peperomia caperata ‘Rosso’ — Mini textured foliage
🌤️ Bright interior / Partial shade • 💧 Moderate watering • 🪴 Easy care • 🐾 Non-toxic
The Peperomia ‘Rosso’ captivates with its textured foliage: dark green finely veined top, ruby red underside. Ultra compact and decorative, it is perfect for greening a shelf, a desk, or a windowsill.
Native to tropical undergrowth, it adapts very well to urban interiors: few requirements, great visual effect — the ideal ally for small spaces.
Exposure & location
The Peperomia ‘Rosso’ appreciates soft light: near a filtered window or in bright partial shade. Avoid direct sun which could mark its leaves.
- Exposure: bright interior to partial shade.
- Ideal: shelf, end table, desk, small table.
- Temperature: 18–26 °C, avoid cold and drafts.
- Substrate: light and draining (indoor plant soil + perlite).
Verdeia tip: a pierced decorative pot + shallow saucer = impeccable foliage and dry roots.
Watering & care
- Watering: moderate; let 1–2 cm of substrate dry between waterings.
- Frequency: about every 7–10 days (less often in winter).
- Fertilizer: light, every 4–6 weeks in spring-summer.
- Care: wipe leaves to reveal veins and red underside.
- Repotting: every 12–18 months in a very draining mix.
Water with room temperature water and always empty excess from the saucer.
Decor ideas & plant combinations
Its deep green / ruby red palette creates a chic contrast in a natural or minimalist decor. Perfect in a trio of mini-plants.
- To combine with: Fittonia, Pilea peperomioides, Syngonium ‘Pixie’.
- Ideal pot: matte beige ceramic, textured stoneware, or fine black metal.
- Ambiance: elegant urban jungle, reading nook, creative office.
A light decorative pot will highlight the red underside of the foliage.
