Air-purifying, non-toxic. A reliable choice for an indoor jungle.
Which indoor fern should you choose?
Our catalog offers several ferns with very distinct characteristics:
- Aglaomorpha coronans (this plant) — deeply cut fronds, decorative hairy rhizomes, H45 cm size. The most original and graphic.
- Asplenium Osaka — slightly wavy, bright green rosette-shaped fronds, H40 cm. The most elegant and understated.
- Asplenium Campio — very wavy fronds, H50 cm. The most textured.
- Asplenium Crispy Wave — ultra-crinkled fronds, miniature H25 cm size. The most compact.
- Asplenium Antiquum — classic smooth, glossy fronds. The most understated.
Aglaomorpha stands out from all other ferns thanks to its visible hairy rhizomes — its most fascinating and decorative feature.
Light & placement
- Ideal exposure: bright indirect light to partial shade.
- Tolerates: low light.
- Avoid: direct sun, which can scorch the delicate fronds.
- Temperature: 18–25 °C, without sudden changes.
- Humidity: 60-70% recommended — bright bathrooms are ideal.
- Substrate: light, airy, and very well-draining — a mix for epiphytes with bark.
Like all epiphytic ferns, it appreciates high ambient humidity — a bright bathroom is perfect for it. Its ideal placement depends on the balance between light and humidity.
Watering & care
- Watering: moderate — let the surface of the substrate dry slightly between waterings.
- Frequency: approximately once a week in spring and summer, reduced in winter.
- Drainage: pot with drainage holes and a very well-draining substrate — essential.
- Rhizomes: never cover them — they must remain visible at the surface to breathe.
- Humidity: mist the foliage regularly.
- Fertilizer: liquid fertilizer for green plants, diluted by half, once a month in spring and summer.
Never cover the hairy rhizomes — this is the golden rule for Aglaomorpha. The frequency of watering should be adapted to the season.
Decor ideas & plant pairings
Its deeply cut fronds and hairy rhizomes make it a conversation plant — everyone notices it and wants to know what it is.
- Ready to display: the included black Selin pot creates a striking contrast with the fronds' glossy green — a cohesive and elegant ensemble with no additional purchase.
- Urban jungle arrangement: pair it with a Calathea Medallion or a Philodendron Scandens Brasil for a tropical arrangement with highly contrasting foliage.
- Style: tropical, graphic, urban jungle — its deeply cut fronds complement contemporary interiors with organic materials.
Its new fronds emerge tightly coiled from the heart of the plant — place it somewhere highly visible to enjoy this fascinating botanical spectacle. Pair it with other air-purifying plants.
Verdeia tips
- Never cover the rhizomes — they must remain visible on the surface of the substrate. They are storage and respiratory organs — burying them causes them to rot.
- High humidity is essential — mist regularly or place a humidifier nearby. Air that is too dry causes brown, brittle fronds.
- Repot every 2-3 years — in a light epiphyte substrate with bark. Make sure the rhizomes stay on the surface after repotting. A single repotting in spring is enough, into a pot only slightly larger.
