🌿 Large, deeply split leaves • 📏 3 heights: 60, 80 or 105 cm • 🌱 Long, slender bendable stems • 🌑 No light or watering needed • 🐾 Non-toxic to pets • ✨ Green all year round
The Artificial Philodendron selloum captures the look of Thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum, the philodendron selloum: many long, slender stems rise from the centre of the pot and carry large leaves deeply split into lobes, in mid to dark green, traced with lighter veins. These cuts and veins give it a realistic look, even up close.
It comes in 60, 80 and 105 cm and is offered as foliage only, for a green, understated decor. Among our artificial plants, it is one of the most striking: it keeps its leaves and colour all year round, whether in a dark room or an air-conditioned office.
Which height should you choose?
The three heights share the same model of split leaves, each with its own silhouette — here's how to choose depending on the spot:
- 60 cm: leaves held almost horizontally on long, arching stems, in a wide-open fan. For a low unit, a wide console table or the floor, next to an armchair. Delivered in a Ø12 cm pot.
- 80 cm: tightly packed stems rising straight from the pot and full foliage right down to the base, with one leaf level with the rim of the pot. For a bedroom, an entryway or the side of a sofa. Delivered in a Ø9 cm pot.
- 105 cm: many slender stems growing from a short base and leaves tiered at different heights, for a tall, airy silhouette. For a living room corner, an office or a reception area. Delivered in a Ø16 cm pot.
For a more natural green corner, pair two heights: the 105 cm at the back and the 60 cm in front, slightly offset.
Artificial or real Philodendron selloum?
The artificial Philodendron selloum brings the large split leaves of the selloum to places where a real plant would lack light: hallway, windowless bathroom, office far from the windows, holiday home. It also comes in heights from 60 to 105 cm, whereas our living selloum is delivered at 25 cm tall.
If your room gets bright indirect light and you enjoy watching a plant grow, our living philodendrons remain a safe bet: the Philodendron Selloum 'Atom', a compact version of the selloum, and the Philodendron 'Xanadu', also placed in the genus Thaumatophyllum, in a dense 60 cm clump.
Where to place it?
As it needs no light, it can go wherever it makes the most impact, even far from a window.
- Dark rooms: hallway, entryway, windowless bathroom, corner far from the windows.
- Workspaces: office, waiting room, reception, shop window.
- Living spaces: living room, bedroom, dining room, next to a sofa or a bookcase.
- Avoid: prolonged direct sun behind glass, which fades the colours over time, and placing it right next to a radiator.
It is designed for indoor use: on a balcony or terrace, sun and rain would damage its leaves.
Setting up & care
When it arrives, take a few minutes to give it its final shape: that's what makes the difference between a stiff artificial plant and a philodendron that looks alive.
- Shaping: the stems bend by hand; spread them slightly apart from the base and turn the leaves in several directions, at different heights.
- Dusting: a quick pass with a feather duster or soft cloth from time to time.
- Cleaning: a slightly damp cloth over the leaves, then a dry cloth.
- Over time: it lasts from one year to the next, with no repotting or fertiliser.
Tilt a few leaves outwards at the end of their long stems, as on a real selloum: the result instantly looks more natural.
Decor ideas & pairings
Its large split leaves add a tropical touch, and it lends itself to arrangements, colors, and textures just like a real plant.
- For a contemporary finish, slip the pot into the Elho B.for Soft Anthracite decorative pot, in Ø14 cm for the 60 cm and Ø18 cm for the 105 cm — the matt anthracite brings out the green of the leaves.
- For a touch of colour, dress the 60 cm in the Elho Jazz Round decorative pot in amber yellow in Ø14 cm — its warm shade warms up the green of the foliage.
- For a contrast of foliage, place our artificial Pachira, our artificial Kentia, our artificial Magnolia grandiflora, our artificial Dracaena reflexa, our artificial eucalyptus, our artificial Monstera deliciosa or our artificial Ficus lyrata next to it — their palmate leaves, their light fronds and their large smooth, striped, grey-green, perforated or fiddle-shaped leaves echo the split leaves of the selloum.
- For a console or table, add a bouquet from our selection of artificial flowers and bouquets, which won't wilt either.
In front of a white wall or a neutral background, the pattern of the split leaves stands out clearly and gives the room structure.

FAQ – Everything to know before adopting your Verdeia plant
How are my plants prepared before shipping?
All our plants are selected from our European partner nurseries. Before shipping, they are watered, cleaned, and protected with breathable, secure packaging. Each package is designed to ensure your plant arrives in perfect health, without any transport-related stress.
Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Orders ship within 48 working hours, with tracked delivery in 2 to 5 working days via DPD. Shipping costs and the free-shipping threshold depend on your country — see our delivery page. You receive a tracking link as soon as your parcel leaves.
What should I do when my plant arrives?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What should I do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
Since plants are living beings, standard returns are not possible. However, we guarantee good health upon delivery: if the plant arrives damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. For any other cases (order error, decorative pot, accessory), returns are possible within 14 days.
