🌈 Flowers in every color • 🌷 Several species of spring bulbs • 🌿 20 to 50 cm depending on species • 🌤️ Flowers from March to May • ⛅ Sun or light partial shade • ❄️ Hardy • 🔁 Returns every spring • 📏 Bulbs size 10/12
This spring bulb mix brings together several species with flowers in varied colors, for a cheerful, ever-changing bed from March to May. Planted together in autumn, they flower one after another on stems 20 to 50 cm tall depending on the species. It is a European horticultural selection, supplied as size 10/12 bulbs for the largest ones.
In beds, borders, pots or lawns, it brings a burst of color without having to match the species yourself. Among our flower bulbs, it is the most colorful mix and the most economical per bulb: its large packs let you fill wide areas with flowers all spring long.
Which mix should you choose?
- Multicolour spring bulb mix (this plant) — several species in every color, 20 to 50 cm, from March to May. For a cheerful, varied bed with nothing to match.
- Blue and white spring bulb mix — six species in shades of blue and white, 10 to 50 cm, from March to June. For a fresh, luminous garden.
- Mixed daffodils and narcissi — white, yellow, orange and bicolour flowers, about 30 to 45 cm, in March-April. For a bed of daffodils only.
- Mixed large-flowered crocus — purple, white, yellow and striped cups, 10 to 12 cm, from February. To color a lawn at the end of winter.
The bulbs in this mix are not all the same size: plant the largest in the center or at the back of the bed and the smallest along the edge.
How many bulbs should you choose?
Small and large bulbs share the space: allow about 50 bulbs per square meter, or 20 to 25 bulbs in a pot 40 cm in diameter.
- 125 bulbs: about 2.5 m², or five to six large pots on a balcony or terrace.
- 250 bulbs: about 5 m², for a spring bed or the foot of a hedge.
- 500 bulbs: about 10 m², for a long border or several beds.
- 1000 bulbs: about 20 m², to naturalize a lawn, a bank or a light woodland.
The larger the pack, the lower the price per bulb: the 1000 pack works out at about half the price per bulb of the 125 pack.
Planting & location
The bulbs are planted from September to December, as long as the ground is not frozen, for flowers from March to May.
- Exposure: sun or light partial shade; flowers are more plentiful in full sun.
- Depth: 5 to 8 cm for small bulbs, 10 to 15 cm for the largest, about three times their height, pointed end up.
- Spacing: 5 cm between small bulbs, 10 cm between large ones; in pots, they can almost touch.
- Soil type: ordinary and well drained; only standing water harms them.
- Hardiness: down to about -15 °C in the ground, like the species in our selection of cold-hardy plants.
For a natural effect, pour all the bulbs into a bucket, mix them and plant them at random, simply setting the large ones deeper than the small ones.
Watering & care
In the ground, autumn and spring rain is enough. In pots, use a free-draining potting mix, as explained in our guide to substrates and potting soils, and never let it become waterlogged.
- Watering: low — at planting, then in pots when the surface of the mix is dry, especially when the buds appear.
- Fertilizer: unnecessary in the ground; in pots, use a bulb fertilizer as the leaves emerge.
- Spent flowers: cut them off once withered, so the bulbs keep their energy instead of forming seeds.
- After flowering: let the foliage yellow for six weeks before cutting it back: it feeds the bulbs for the following year.
Most species naturalize year after year; top up the bed every two or three years to keep the display dense.
Decorating ideas & plant pairings
Its varied colors brighten the garden at the end of winter and also light up large pots, as shown in our guide to plants for a sunny balcony.
- For a blue carpet in the foreground, plant Muscari Magic Mix in front — its blue and white spikes, 15 to 20 cm tall, flower in March-April.
- To extend flowering into June, plant Allium 'Purple Sensation' behind — its 8 to 10 cm purple globes, on stems 70 to 80 cm tall, take over in May-June.
- For a terrace version, plant 20 to 25 bulbs in layers in a 40 cm pot — large ones at the bottom, small ones on top, for a pot in flower all spring.
At the foot of a deciduous tree, the mix flowers before the leaves cast shade and brightens a corner that is often bare in spring.
Verdeia tips
- Plant in generous handfuls: for a lavish effect, plant in groups of 10 to 20 bulbs rather than in regular rows.
- Mark the spot: insert a small stake or note the outline of the bed, so you do not damage the bulbs when digging in summer, once the foliage has gone.
- Pick for the vase: the tallest stems make pretty country-style bouquets; cut them in the morning, when the flowers are starting to open.

FAQ – Everything to know before adopting your Verdeia plant
How are my plants prepared before shipping?
All our plants are selected from our European partner nurseries. Before shipping, they are watered, cleaned, and protected with breathable, secure packaging. Each package is designed to ensure your plant arrives in perfect health, without any transport-related stress.
Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Orders ship within 48 working hours, with tracked delivery in 2 to 5 working days via DPD. Shipping costs and the free-shipping threshold depend on your country — see our delivery page. You receive a tracking link as soon as your parcel leaves.
What should I do when my plant arrives?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What should I do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
Since plants are living beings, standard returns are not possible. However, we guarantee good health upon delivery: if the plant arrives damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. For any other cases (order error, decorative pot, accessory), returns are possible within 14 days.
