Frequently Asked Questions
Why are the stems of my Rhipsalis 'Red Coral' turning green? The stems lose their red-orange hue when the plant lacks light — move it closer to a source of bright indirect light, and the new stems should gradually regain their characteristic color.
Can Rhipsalis 'Red Coral' produce flowers and fruit? Yes, under good conditions it produces small white or cream flowers followed by translucent red-orange berries that remain decorative for several weeks — a rare and very original bonus for an indoor cactus.

🌿 Trailing red-orange stems • ☀️ Bright indirect light to partial shade • 💧 Moderate watering • 🌵 Thornless • 🐾 Non-toxic
Native to the humid tropical forests of Brazil and Argentina, the Rhipsalis 'Red Coral' is a thornless epiphytic cactus with slender cylindrical red-orange stems — a spectacular color reminiscent of coral branches that intensifies with good light. It naturally grows on tree branches in shaded, humid understories, unlike desert cacti. This is the largest size in our trailing plants collection and our original and rare plants selection.
Which variety of Rhipsalis to choose?
Two varieties of Rhipsalis are available in our catalog:
- Rhipsalis 'Red Coral' (this plant) — spectacular red-orange cylindrical stems, larger size (H25 cm | Pot Ø17 cm). The most colorful and voluminous version.
- Rhipsalis burchellii — delicate light green slender cylindrical stems, compact size (H20 cm | Pot Ø12 cm). The finest and most minimalist version.
Light & location
- Light: bright indirect light to bright partial shade — good light intensifies the red-orange hues. Avoid harsh direct sun that fades the stems.
- Ideal: hanging near a window, high shelf, bright bathroom, or furniture edge.
- Temperature: 15 to 25 °C, without sudden changes.
- Substrate: light and well-draining — special epiphytic cactus mix (orchid soil, perlite, bark).
Watering & care
- Watering: moderate — allow the substrate to dry slightly between waterings. Unlike desert cacti, the epiphytic Rhipsalis comes from tropical humid understories and prefers more regular watering — its stems wrinkle if the substrate stays completely dry for too long.
- Frequency: about once a week in spring-summer, reduced in winter.
- Drainage: essential — pot with drainage holes and very draining substrate.
- Humidity: prefers 50–60% humidity — mist occasionally.
- Fertilizer: once a month in spring-summer, diluted liquid cactus fertilizer.
Decor ideas & plant combinations
- Color contrast in hanging displays: pair it with a Rhipsalis burchellii in tender green and a Ceropegia woodii with green and silver beads — three thornless trailing cacti or succulents for a very graphic and easy-care hanging arrangement.
- In a bright bathroom: the room’s natural humidity replicates its tropical epiphytic habitat — the ideal spot for its red-orange stems to keep their full intensity, as with all decorative trailing plants.
- Ideal pot: matte white ceramic or hanging terracotta — neutral warm tones highlight the red-orange hues of the stems without color competition.
Verdeia tips
- Preserve the red-orange hues with good light: place it in the brightest possible spot without direct sun — in shade, new stems grow in less spectacular green tones.
- Wait for flowers and berries: under good conditions, Rhipsalis produces small white or cream flowers followed by translucent berries — a subtle but very original decorative display on a cactus.
- Propagate easily: cut an 8 to 10 cm stem, let it callous for 1 to 2 days, and plant in slightly moist substrate — propagating plants by cuttings is very simple with this species.

FAQ – Everything to know before adopting your Verdeia plant
How are my plants prepared before shipping?
All our plants are selected from our European partner nurseries. Before shipping, they are watered, cleaned, and protected with breathable, secure packaging. Each package is designed to ensure your plant arrives in perfect health, without any transport-related stress.
Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Shipping is done within 48 business hours, with tracked delivery within 2 to 5 business days. Delivery costs €5.60 — free for orders over €50. You will receive a tracking link as soon as the package is shipped.
What to do upon receiving my plant?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What to do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
Since plants are living beings, standard returns are not possible. However, we guarantee good health upon delivery: if the plant arrives damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. For any other cases (order error, decorative pot, accessory), returns are possible within 14 days.
