Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a Kalanchoe bloom last? The Kalanchoe bloom usually lasts 6 to 8 weeks under normal conditions. With a very bright location and regular removal of faded flowers, it can last up to 3 months. It is one of the indoor flowering plants with the longest bloom time.
Can you leave a Kalanchoe without watering during vacation? Yes — that’s one of its great strengths. Its succulent leaves store water and allow it to easily go 2 to 3 weeks without watering. Water well before you leave and place it in a bright spot — it will manage on its own during your absence.

🌺 Long-lasting red blooms • 🌿 Glossy green fleshy foliage • ☀️ Bright light • 💧 Very little watering • 🪴 Included organic white ceramic pot • 📏 H27 cm | Pot Ø12 cm
The red Kalanchoe (Kalanchoe blossfeldiana) is a flowering succulent native to Madagascar, renowned for its vibrant, particularly long-lasting blooms. Its glossy green fleshy leaves with scalloped edges store the water — a natural resilience that makes it one of the easiest flowering plants to care for. It comes in its included white ceramic pot with rounded organic shapes, ready to display.
Also discover our other colors: red Kalanchoe in a bronze pot, pink Kalanchoe in a pink pot, and white Kalanchoe. A reliable choice among indoor flowering plants and plants that bloom all year round.
Light & placement
The Kalanchoe is a light-loving plant — the more it receives, the more abundant and long-lasting its blooms will be.
- Light: bright to very bright light — tolerates a few hours of gentle direct sun.
- Ideal location: sunny windowsill, bright desk, console table near a large window.
- Temperature: 18 to 26 °C, protected from cold drafts.
- Substrate: very well-draining — cactus soil with sand or perlite.
A south- or east-facing windowsill is its ideal location — direct morning light stimulates blooming without scorching the petals.
Watering & care
As a succulent plant, the Kalanchoe requires very little water — its fleshy leaves store moisture. Excess water is its only real danger. The right watering schedule depends on how quickly the substrate dries.
- Watering: low — wait until the substrate is completely dry before watering.
- Frequency: approximately once a week in summer, 2 to 3 times a month in winter.
- Drainage: essential — never water over the leaves or flowers.
- Fertilizer: every 2 weeks during the blooming period with fertilizer for flowering plants.
- Blooming: remove faded flowers to encourage new buds.
Soft or translucent leaves indicate excess water — let the substrate dry completely and drastically reduce the watering frequency.
Decor ideas & plant pairings
The vibrant red flowers and organic white pot create a bright, elegant arrangement — a flowering plant that naturally becomes a focal point in any room.
- Pairing: pair it with a Peperomia Raindrop or a Zamioculcas for a varied arrangement with the same minimal water needs.
- Pot included: the white ceramic pot with rounded organic shapes is included — the set is ready to display without adding anything else.
- Atmosphere: perfect on a windowsill, bright shelf, or coffee table — its red blooms add a vibrant touch of color to neutral-toned interiors.
Verdeia tips
- Bright light for long-lasting blooms — place it in the brightest location available. The more light it receives, the more numerous its buds and the longer-lasting its blooms. In a dark location, the buds remain closed and the plant quickly becomes depleted.
- Encouraging new blooms — after the main blooming period, place the Kalanchoe in a cool location (15–17 °C) with long nights for 4 to 6 weeks. This controlled stress triggers the formation of new buds. Plan the cycles using the blooming calendar.
- Very forgiving when it comes to watering — the Kalanchoe can easily tolerate 2 to 3 weeks without watering thanks to its succulent leaves. It is one of the few flowering plants that truly forgives missed waterings — ideal for people with little time available.
- mildly toxic — all parts of the Kalanchoe are mildly toxic to cats and dogs. Keep it out of animals' reach.
