Frequently Asked Questions
How long do air plants live? Several years under good conditions. After the single flowering, the mother plant gradually declines but produces offsets called keikis that continue the colony. Detach them when they reach one-third the size of the mother plant.
Why is my Tillandsia turning brown? Isolated brown tips indicate air that is too dry — double the misting frequency. Widespread browning at the center of the rosette indicates rot from stagnant water — dry the plant upside down for 24 hours and make sure to shake it well after each soak.

🌿 Pack of 5 air plants • 🎨 Mix of graphic varieties • ☀️ Bright indoor light • 💧 Regular misting • 🌱 No soil or pot • 🐾 Non-toxic
Tillandsia Air mix is a pack of 5 epiphytic air plants native to the tropical and subtropical forests of Central and South America, where they naturally grow attached to tree branches without ever touching the ground. These extraordinary plants absorb water and nutrients directly through their leaves - no soil, no pot, no fuss. Each pack contains a mix of varieties including Ionanta, Argentea, Gardneri, and Oaxacana, all Ø6 cm.
Non-toxic, easy to care for, and endlessly creative for decor. Pair them with original plants and terrarium plants.
What quantity should you choose?
The Tillandsia Air mix is available in several formats depending on your project:
- Pack of 5 (this product) - ideal discovery format for getting started or creating a first arrangement. 5 different varieties, each Ø6 cm.
- Pack of 10 - for creating several arrangements or filling a larger support. Intermediate format.
- Pack of 20 - for large wall installations or ambitious decor projects. XXL format.
- Tillandsia King Xero - unique large plant, H23 cm, with spectacular silver leaves. The statement piece.
- Tillandsia Cyanea - spectacular pink flowering variety, H38 cm, with long-lasting blooms. The flowering version.
Why start with the pack of 5? Five plants allow you to test different locations and display styles before investing in a larger pack - each one reacts slightly differently depending on the light and humidity of its space.
Exposure & placement
Tillandsia thrive in bright indirect light and good air circulation - two essential conditions for their survival. Avoid direct sun in summer, which burns their delicate leaves, as well as enclosed spaces without ventilation.
- Exposure: bright indirect light - avoid direct sun in summer.
- Ideal: hanging near a window, in an open terrarium, on a decorative stand, or in a bright bathroom.
- Temperature: 15 to 25 °C, without sudden changes.
- Support: no substrate - hang them on driftwood, seashells, stones, metal supports, or from a hanger.
A bright bathroom is their ideal location - the room's natural humidity reduces the need for misting. Air plants depend on a good balance between light and humidity.
Watering & care
Watering Tillandsia is radically different from watering other plants - they absorb water through their leaves, not their roots.
- Method: mist 2 to 3 times a week, or give them a full 20 to 30-minute bath once a week.
- After bathing: gently shake off excess water and leave them to dry upside down - standing water in the center of the rosette causes rot.
- Water: use rainwater or filtered water - Tillandsia are sensitive to limescale and chlorine.
- Humidity: they appreciate 50 to 70% humidity - increase misting in summer and during the heating season.
- Fertilizer: once a month in spring and summer, use liquid orchid fertilizer diluted to one-quarter strength in the misting water.
- Air circulation: essential - avoid enclosed spaces without ventilation.
In winter, with the heating on, double the misting frequency - the dry air in heated apartments is their main enemy.
Decor ideas
Without soil or pot, Tillandsia offer decorative possibilities that no other plant can match - they can live anywhere with light and air.
- Compositions to create: hang several plants on the same piece of driftwood, place them in seashells, set them on pebbles, or secure them in an open terrarium for a minimalist plant display.
- Ready-made format: the Tillandsia arrangement with LED stand or the Kokodama Tillandsia mix offer already assembled compositions.
- Atmosphere: minimalist, bohemian, natural — Tillandsia adapt to every decor style without ever overpowering it.
Create spectacular aerial arrangements by hanging several Tillandsia on the same piece of driftwood — the effect is immediate and requires no special skills.
Verdeia tips
- Always dry them after soaking — turn them upside down for 1 to 2 hours after each soak to drain water from the center of the rosette. This is the most important step to prevent rot, the only real danger for these plants.
- Rainwater or filtered water only — limescale and chlorine in tap water clog the trichomes, the tiny hairs that allow the leaves to absorb water and nutrients. With tap water, the plants gradually weaken for no apparent reason.
- Some varieties may flower — Ionanta turns bright red just before flowering; it is a rare and fascinating sight. Flowering occurs only once in the plant's life, but it produces offsets that perpetuate the colony.
- The set contains a surprise selection — the exact varieties vary depending on current availability. Each set includes 5 healthy, different plants, but not necessarily the same specific varieties from one order to another.

How are my plants prepared before shipping?

Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Shipping is done within 48 business hours, with tracked delivery within 2 to 5 business days. Delivery costs €5.60 — free for orders over €50. You will receive a tracking link as soon as the package is shipped.
What to do upon receiving my plant?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What to do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
Since plants are living beings, standard returns are not possible. However, we guarantee good health upon delivery: if the plant arrives damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. For any other cases (order error, decorative pot, accessory), returns are possible within 14 days.
