Frequently Asked Questions
Why are the leaves of my Spathiphyllum turning yellow? Yellowing leaves most often indicate overwatering with stagnant water at the bottom of the pot — check that the drainage is adequate. Prolonged lack of light or watering with water that is too cold or too hard can also cause this symptom.
Can Spathiphyllum live in a bathroom without a window? No — it tolerates partial shade but needs a minimum of indirect natural light to survive in the long term. A bathroom with a window, even a small one, is perfectly suitable. Without any natural light, the plant gradually weakens over several months.

This size is delivered in its included light gray textured concrete-effect pot — a harmonious set with a clean contemporary design, ready to place. Discover it in our air-purifying plants collection and in our indoor flowering plants selection.
Which Spathiphyllum size to choose?
The Spathiphyllum is available in several sizes in our catalog — from compact size to large imposing specimen:

Exposure & placement
The Spathiphyllum is one of the few flowering plants that truly tolerates Partial shade — a valuable quality for low-light spaces. Our light and humidity guide details how to optimize its placement.
- Exposure: soft light to partial shade — avoid direct sun that burns its leaves.
- Ideal: living room, bedroom, bright bathroom, or low-exposure office.
- Temperature: 18 to 24 °C, away from cold drafts.
- Substrate: rich and well-drained — universal potting soil with some perlite.
Place it halfway from a window — close enough to benefit from indirect light, far enough to avoid the sun burning its shiny leaves.
Watering & care
The Spathiphyllum sends a clear signal when thirsty — its leaves droop slightly. It recovers quickly after watering. Check our watering guide for best practices.
- Watering: regular — keep the substrate slightly moist without soaking.
- Frequency: about 1 to 2 times per week in spring-summer, reduced in winter.
- Drainage: avoid stagnant water to prevent yellowing leaves.
- Humidity: appreciates regular misting — especially during winter heating periods.
- Fertilizer: a light application every 15 days in spring and summer.
Always use water at room temperature — cold tap water can cause light spots on its shiny leaves.
Decor ideas & plant combinations
Its deep glossy green foliage and white bracts create an elegant and calming contrast. The light gray textured concrete-effect pot naturally fits into contemporary and minimalist interiors.
- In combination: pair it with a Zamioculcas or a Philodendron Imperial Green for a purifying arrangement with contrasting foliage. Also discover our purifying trio Asplenium + Spathiphyllum + Epipremnum already assembled.
- Pot included: the light gray textured concrete-effect pot is included — the set is ready to place without adding anything.
- Atmosphere: perfect on a coffee table, shelf, or in a dim corner of the living room or office — its white bracts bring light even to dark spaces.
Verdeia tips
- Drooping leaves signal thirst — this is the characteristic alarm signal of Spathiphyllum. Water immediately and the plant will straighten up within a few hours. If leaves remain droopy after watering, check that the roots are not waterlogged.
- Air-purifying and easy — Spathiphyllum absorbs formaldehyde, benzene, and trichloroethylene present in indoor air. See our analysis on plants and air quality to learn more.
- To encourage flowering — white bracts appear more easily with bright indirect light and regular watering. Mild controlled water stress (letting leaves droop slightly before watering) can also stimulate flowering.
- Slightly toxic — like all Araceae, Spathiphyllum contains irritating calcium oxalates if ingested. Keep it out of reach of cats and dogs.

How are my plants prepared before shipping?
All our plants are selected from our European partner nurseries. Before shipping, they are watered, cleaned, and protected with breathable, secure packaging. Each package is designed to ensure your plant arrives in perfect health, without any transport-related stress.
Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Shipping is done within 48 business hours, with tracked delivery within 2 to 5 business days. Delivery costs €5.60 — free for orders over €50. You will receive a tracking link as soon as the package is shipped.
What to do upon receiving my plant?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What to do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
Since plants are living beings, standard returns are not possible. However, we guarantee good health upon delivery: if the plant arrives damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. For any other cases (order error, decorative pot, accessory), returns are possible within 14 days.
