Clematis armandii ‘Apple Blossom’ — Evergreen & fragrant clematis
🌸 Fragrant spring flowering • 🌿 Evergreen foliage • 🏙️ Ideal for urban walls & pergolas • ☀️ Sun / Partial shade • ❄️ Hardy to −20 °C
Clematis armandii ‘Apple Blossom’ is an elegant and evergreen climbing clematis, famous for its abundant and delicately fragrant spring flowering. Its pink buds open into white star-shaped flowers with a creamy center, reminiscent of apple blossoms.
Thanks to its shiny dark green foliage and fast growth, it forms a dense and decorative green screen all year round. Ideal for dressing walls, pergolas, or balcony railings, it brings a romantic, bright, and refined touch to your urban space.
Exposure & location
- Exposure: full sun or bright partial shade, preferably sheltered from cold winds.
- Culture: in open ground or large container on south or west-facing balcony or terrace.
- Support: trellis, pergola, fence, or wall to guide its climbing growth.
- Tip: roots in the shade, head in the sun — the golden rule for clematis for optimal development.
Its evergreen foliage creates a decorative green curtain even in winter, perfect for preserving balcony privacy.
Watering & maintenance
- Watering: regular in spring and summer, keeping the soil fresh but well-drained.
- Mulching: recommended to maintain moisture and protect roots from heat.
- Pruning: light after flowering to contain growth and encourage branching.
- Fertilizer: potassium-rich in spring to stimulate flowering.
A groundcover perennial (hosta, heuchera, or geranium) planted at the base helps keep roots cool while enhancing the clematis base.
Decor ideas & plant combinations
- With a fragrant climbing rose for a romantic and harmonious duo.
- With other colorful clematis (like ‘Niobe’ or ‘Miss Bateman’) to extend the flowering period.
- With spring shrubs (forsythia, lilac, camellia) for a striking seasonal effect.
- In a pot, with trailing plants (verbena, lobelia) for a flowering and fragrant wall.
On a pergola or railing, it creates a screen of pale pink flowers with a delicate fragrance from late winter.
Verdeia tips
- Guide young stems from planting for even coverage of the support.
- Prefers slightly acidic, humus-rich, and well-drained soils.
- Avoid excess water in winter to protect roots.
- Place near a relaxation corner: its early and fragrant flowering creates a soothing atmosphere.
Clematis ‘Apple Blossom’ pairs beautifully with natural materials — light wood, stone, or terracotta — for a chic and green Mediterranean style.

Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Shipping is done within 48 business hours, with tracked delivery within 2 to 5 business days. Delivery costs €5.60 — free for orders over €50. You will receive a tracking link as soon as the package is shipped.
What to do upon receiving my plant?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What to do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
