🌼 Double flowers with layered petals • 🎨 Mix of assorted colors • 🌱 35 to 45 cm • 🌤️ Flowers in March-April • ⛅ Sun or light partial shade • ❄️ Very hardy • 💐 Lovely cut flower • 🔁 Flowers again every year • 📏 Size 10/12 or 12/14 bulbs
The This mixed double daffodil blend brings together fully double daffodil varieties: instead of the classic trumpet, each flower forms a pompom of layered petals in assorted shades of yellow, white and orange. Borne on 35 to 45 cm stems, they open in March and April and give the garden the look of a country bouquet. It is a European horticultural selection, made up of varieties chosen for their well-filled blooms.
Planted in beds, borders or large pots, it returns every spring and forms ever fuller clumps. Among our flower bulbs, it is one of the most generous for bouquets: a few stems are enough to fill a vase.
Which daffodil should you choose?
- Mixed double daffodils (this plant) — fully double flowers in assorted colors, 35 to 45 cm, in March-April. For flower beds, large pots and bouquets.
- 'Carlton' daffodil — one large yellow cupped flower per stem, 40 to 45 cm, in March-April. For gardens, lawns and bouquets.
- 'Thalia' daffodil — pure white and fragrant, 30 to 35 cm tall, with two to three flowers per stem in April. For elegant flower beds, pots, and bouquets.
Planted side by side, the pompoms of the mix and the single flowers of Carlton create a bed richer in shapes and volume.
How many bulbs should you choose?
Double daffodils make the biggest impact planted in groups of 10 to 15: allow 25 to 35 bulbs per square meter, or 6 to 8 bulbs in a pot 25 to 30 cm in diameter.
- 20 bulbs (size 12/14): about 0.7 m², or 3 large pots on a balcony or terrace.
- 30 bulbs: about 1 m², or 4 large pots on a balcony or terrace.
- 40 bulbs (size 12/14): about 1.5 m², for a flower bed with larger blooms.
- 60 bulbs: about 2 m², for a flower bed or a flowering border.
- 80 bulbs (size 12/14): about 3 m², for a flowering border with larger blooms.
- 120 bulbs: about 4 m², for a long border or several flower beds.
- 240 bulbs: about 8 m², to fill a lawn or the base of trees with flowers.
The larger the pack, the lower the price per bulb: the 240-bulb pack works out at about half the price per bulb of the 30-bulb pack.
Planting & location
Plant the bulbs from September to December, as long as the ground is not frozen, for flowering in March and April, depending on the region.
- Exposure: sun or light partial shade; flowers are more plentiful with at least half a day of sun.
- Depth: 12 to 15 cm, tip pointing up.
- Spacing: 10 to 15 cm between bulbs in the ground; 5 cm in a pot.
- Soil type: ordinary and well-drained; its only enemy is standing water.
- Hardiness: down to -25 °C in the ground, no protection needed.
Plant them in clumps of 10 to 15 bulbs rather than in rows: in spring, each group looks like a bouquet set in the flower bed.
Watering & care
In the ground, rain is enough. In a pot, the potting mix should never stay waterlogged or dry out completely during flowering.
- Watering: light — when planting, then in a pot when the potting mix is dry on the surface, especially as the buds emerge.
- Fertilizer: unnecessary in the ground; in pots, use a bulb fertilizer as the leaves emerge.
- Spent flowers: cut them off once they have faded, so the bulb keeps its energy instead of producing seeds.
- After flowering: let the foliage turn yellow for six weeks before cutting it back; these yellowing leaves are normal here, as they nourish the bulb for next year.
Leave the leaves free after flowering, without tying them: they need their full surface in the sun to recharge the bulb.
Decorating ideas & plant pairings
Their fully double flowers add volume to spring beds and planters alike, in the style of the arrangements in our guide to windowsill plants.
- For a blue carpet at their feet, plant the Armenian grape hyacinth underneath — its vivid blue spikes flower at the same time and set off the yellow and white.
- For a bed full of double flowers, pair them with mixed double tulips — their peony-shaped flowers take over in April and May.
- For a fragrant bed, plant them with mixed garden hyacinths — their colorful spikes flower at the same time and fill the garden with scent.
- For a balcony version, plant 6 to 8 bulbs in the white Elho Greenville Easy Balcony planter, Ø25 cm — the white shows off every color in the mix.
In a pot, plant in layers: daffodils at 15 cm and grape hyacinths above at 8 cm, for flowers on two levels.
Verdeia tips
- Cut some for bouquets: pick the stems when the buds show their color, then stand them alone in water for a few hours before mixing them with other flowers; they last about a week in a vase.
- Give them as a bouquet or in a pot: daffodils are a much-appreciated spring gift, a symbol of renewal, as explained in our ideas for plants to give as gifts.
- Plant deep: at 15 cm, the bulbs anchor firmly and the stems hold their large double flowers more upright.

Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Orders ship within 48 working hours, with tracked delivery in 2 to 5 working days via DPD. Shipping costs and the free-shipping threshold depend on your country — see our delivery page. You receive a tracking link as soon as your parcel leaves.
What should I do when my plant arrives?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What should I do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
