Musa Oriental Dwarf, or dwarf banana plant, is a spectacular tropical plant that instantly transforms an interior into an exotic oasis. Its broad, bright green, supple and slightly glossy leaves add volume and freshness with an unmistakably tropical character. A species native to Southeast Asia, this compact variety was selected for easy pot cultivation and its contained growth, making it ideal for city interiors.
Its distinctive feature is its size: delivered in Ø12 cm, it can be placed on a shelf or desk, whereas the other banana plants require a floor position from the first year.

Exposure & location
Musa is a plant that requires light - it is its main requirement. The more light it receives, the broader, softer and more vibrant green its foliage becomes.
- Light: bright indirect light or a few hours of gentle sun - near an east- or south-facing window.
- Indoor location: bright living room, conservatory, well-lit office.
- Outdoors: move it to a sheltered balcony or terrace as soon as nighttime temperatures exceed 15 °C, gradually acclimating it to direct light.
- Temperature: 18 to 28 °C — minimum 12 °C.
Turn the pot a quarter turn every week — the banana plant naturally grows toward the light, and regular quarter turns ensure balanced foliage on all sides.
Watering & care
Musa prefers a slightly moist substrate and a mild atmosphere. The main challenge is avoiding two extremes: prolonged dryness that turns the leaf edges brown, and excess water that rots the roots in a poorly drained substrate.
- Frequency: water once a week as soon as the substrate starts to dry on the surface — the finger test is sufficient.
- Drainage: avoid stagnant water in the saucer or decorative pot, the main cause of root rot.
- Humidity: mist the foliage regularly, especially during the heating season — dry air weakens the leaves and encourages mealybugs.
- Fertilizer: diluted green plant fertilizer every two to three weeks in spring and summer is enough to support growth.
