🎄 Living Christmas tree, roots and all • ❄️ Decorative snowy tips • 🌲 Hardy down to -30 °C • 📏 H65 cm, in a Ø17 or Ø19 cm pot
Picea glauca 'Conica' Snowy is our dwarf Alberta spruce dressed for winter: its branches are dusted with a fine decorative snow that, from the moment it arrives, makes it look like a tree fresh from a snow-covered forest. Beneath this frost, it is the same living conifer, descended from a dwarf seedling discovered in 1904 in Canada (Alberta), with a dense, perfectly regular cone.
No need for snow spray or heavy decorations: a few baubles and a string of lights are enough. After the holidays, it goes back outside like all our potted Christmas trees, and gradually regains its natural soft green.
Snowy or natural?
- Picea glauca 'Conica' Snowy (this plant) — green cone dusted with decorative snow, H65 cm. The choice for a winter tree ready to decorate.
- Picea glauca 'Conica' — the same cone, in its natural soft green, from H45 cm to H110 cm. The choice for a classic Christmas tree, in several sizes.
- Picea glauca 'Sander's Blue' — the same silhouette, bluish needles, H60 cm. The choice for a natural frosted effect, with no added snow.
Which size should you choose?
- H65 cm | Pot Ø17 cm — the size for a console table or windowsill, easy to slip into a decorative pot.
- H65 cm | Pot Ø19 cm — the same height with a larger root ball: more water reserve over the holidays and easier establishment in the garden.
Light & placement
Like all spruces, it lives outdoors all year round and only spends a short stay indoors for Christmas. Cool air is also what keeps its decorative snow firmly in place.
- During the holidays: 10 to 15 days indoors, in a cool, bright room, away from radiators and any heat source.
- The rest of the year: outdoors, in sun or partial shade, on a balcony, a terrace or in the garden.
- Hardiness: down to -30 °C.
- Avoid: the dry heat of a heated living room for more than two weeks, and very windy spots.
Once outdoors, the rain washes away the decorative snow within a few weeks: your tree then regains its soft green foliage, ready to put on new growth in spring.
Watering & care
Water the root ball, never the foliage: water on the branches would spoil the decorative snow. The finger test tells you when the soil needs water.
- Indoors: check the root ball every 2 to 3 days and keep it slightly moist, pouring the water directly at the base, with no standing water in the saucer.
- Outdoors in a pot: water as soon as the top few centimetres of soil are dry, more often in summer.
- Misting: best avoided during the holidays, to preserve the snow.
- Fertiliser: a conifer fertiliser in spring.
- Repotting: every 2 to 3 years in spring, into a slightly larger pot.
Decorating ideas & plant combinations
Its snow calls for a white, luminous Christmas: white, silver or clear glass baubles, warm-white lights, linen ribbons.
- For an all-white Christmas, place a Helleborus niger 'Christmas Carol' beside it — the white flowers of the Christmas rose extend the snow effect at the foot of the tree, then spend the winter outdoors with it.
- For a touch of soft colour, add a Skimmia japonica 'Finchy': its glossy green leaves and pinkish-white buds warm up the white of the snow without breaking the wintry mood.
- On a console table or windowsill, slip the Ø17 cm size into a white ELHO Vibes Fold decorative pot Ø22 cm: the matt white of the pot echoes the snowy tips for a clean, bright look.
- As a winter gift, it is a tree ready to set out, with nothing else to buy, that lives on after the holidays — one of the easiest plant gifts to give in December.
Verdeia tips
- Handle it by the pot: the decorative snow stays on the branches but rubs off with friction — unpack and move it holding it by the pot, touching the foliage as little as possible.
- Decorate lightly: choose light ornaments placed on the branch tips and LED lights that give off little heat, so the snow does not fall off.
- Move it somewhere cool as soon as the holidays are over: a few days in a sheltered, unheated place, then outdoors, like other cold-hardy plants — it will regain its natural green as the rain falls.

Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Orders ship within 48 working hours, with tracked delivery in 2 to 5 working days via DPD. Shipping costs and the free-shipping threshold depend on your country — see our delivery page. You receive a tracking link as soon as your parcel leaves.
What should I do when my plant arrives?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What should I do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
Since plants are living beings, standard returns are not possible. However, we guarantee good health upon delivery: if the plant arrives damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. For any other cases (order error, decorative pot, accessory), returns are possible within 14 days.
