🎄 Living Christmas tree, roots and all • ❄️ Decorative snowy tips • 🪣 Delivered in a zinc pot • 🌲 Hardy down to -30 °C • 📏 H65 cm | Pot Ø17 cm
Picea glauca 'Conica' Snowy in a zinc pot arrives ready to display: its branches are dusted with a fine decorative snow and its nursery pot slips into a zinc decorative pot with a raw metal finish. From the moment it arrives, the grey of the zinc and the white of the snow make it look like a little winter tree. Beneath this frost, it is our dwarf Alberta spruce, descended from a dwarf seedling discovered in 1904 in Canada (Alberta), with a dense, perfectly regular cone.
A few baubles and a string of lights are all it takes to decorate it. After the holidays, it goes back outside in its pot, like all our potted Christmas trees, and gradually regains its natural soft green.
Which version should you choose?
- Picea glauca 'Conica' Snowy in a zinc pot (this plant) — cone dusted with decorative snow, in its zinc decorative pot, H65 cm | Pot Ø17 cm. The choice for a ready-to-display winter tree with a modern style.
- Picea glauca 'Conica' Snowy — the same snowy tree in a plain pot, in Ø17 or Ø19 cm. The choice for dressing it in your own decorative pot.
- Picea glauca 'Conica' in a zinc pot — the same zinc pot, with a tree in its natural soft green. The choice for a Christmas with no added snow.
- Picea glauca 'Sander's Blue' — the same silhouette, bluish needles, H60 cm. The choice for a natural frosted effect.
Light & placement
Like all spruces, it lives outdoors all year round and only spends a short stay indoors for Christmas. Cool air keeps its decorative snow in place, and zinc withstands rain and frost: it can go back outside without changing pots.
- During the holidays: 10 to 15 days indoors, in a cool, bright room, away from radiators and any heat source.
- The rest of the year: outdoors, in sun or partial shade, on a balcony, a terrace or in the garden, in its zinc decorative pot.
- Hardiness: down to -30 °C.
- Avoid: the dry heat of a heated living room for more than two weeks, and very windy spots.
Once outdoors, the rain washes away the decorative snow within a few weeks; in summer, opt for partial shade, as zinc heats up quickly in full sun.
Watering & care
Water the root ball, never the foliage: water on the branches would spoil the decorative snow. The finger test tells you when the soil needs water.
- Indoors: check the root ball every 2 to 3 days; pour the water at the base, then after a few minutes empty any water left at the bottom of the decorative pot.
- Misting: best avoided during the holidays, to preserve the snow.
- Outdoors in a pot: water as soon as the top few centimetres of soil are dry, more often in summer, and empty the zinc pot after heavy rain.
- Fertiliser: a conifer fertiliser in spring.
- Repotting: every 2 to 3 years in spring, into a slightly larger pot.
Decorating ideas & plant combinations
Snow and zinc call for a white and silver Christmas: white, silver or clear glass baubles, warm-white lights, grey velvet ribbons.
- For an all-white Christmas, place a Helleborus niger 'Christmas Carol' beside it — the white flowers of the Christmas rose extend the snow effect at the foot of the tree, then spend the winter outdoors with it.
- For a touch of soft colour, add a Skimmia japonica 'Finchy': its glossy green leaves and pinkish-white buds warm up the grey of the zinc without breaking the wintry mood.
- For a different look another winter, slip it into a white ELHO Vibes Fold decorative pot Ø22 cm: the matt white echoes the snowy tips for a clean, bright look.
- As a winter gift, it is a tree ready to set out, with nothing else to buy, that lives on after the holidays — one of the easiest plant gifts to give in December.
Verdeia tips
- Carry it by the pot: the decorative snow rubs off with friction — unpack and move it holding it by the zinc, touching the foliage as little as possible.
- Decorate lightly: choose light ornaments placed on the branch tips and LED lights that give off little heat, so the snow does not fall off.
- Move it somewhere cool as soon as the holidays are over: a few days in a sheltered, unheated place, then outdoors in its zinc pot, like other cold-hardy plants.

FAQ – Everything to know before adopting your Verdeia plant
How are my plants prepared before shipping?
All our plants are selected from our European partner nurseries. Before shipping, they are watered, cleaned, and protected with breathable, secure packaging. Each package is designed to ensure your plant arrives in perfect health, without any transport-related stress.
Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Orders ship within 48 working hours, with tracked delivery in 2 to 5 working days via DPD. Shipping costs and the free-shipping threshold depend on your country — see our delivery page. You receive a tracking link as soon as your parcel leaves.
What should I do when my plant arrives?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What should I do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
Since plants are living beings, standard returns are not possible. However, we guarantee good health upon delivery: if the plant arrives damaged, it will be replaced free of charge. For any other cases (order error, decorative pot, accessory), returns are possible within 14 days.
