💙 Large clear blue flower heads • 🔁 Repeat flowering from June to October • 🌸 Delivered in bud, 7 to 12 flower heads • ⛅ Partial shade • ❄️ Hardy down to -25 °C • 🪴 Compact habit, ideal in a pot
The Hydrangea macrophylla Forever & Ever® Blue is a big-flowered hydrangea from a repeat-flowering series: it flowers both on the previous year's wood and on the current year's shoots. European horticultural selection, it is the only blue hydrangea among the catalogue's outdoor plants that flowers again until autumn, even after a harsh winter or clumsy pruning.
Where a classic hydrangea loses its flowers if frost or pruning removes the previous year's buds, Forever & Ever® forms flowers again on its new shoots. Delivered in bud, 55 cm tall in a 23 cm pot, it bears 7 to 12 flower heads that open soft green before taking on their blue color.
Which hydrangea should you choose?
The Hydrangea varieties in the catalogue do not have the same flowering or the same uses:
- Forever & Ever® (this plant) — repeat-flowering: it blooms again on the current year's shoots, even after a harsh winter or incorrect pruning. The safest choice for flowering every year.
- Magical® Revolution — flowers that change color from July to October, an award-winning variety from the Royal Horticultural Society. The most spectacular in late summer.
- Magical® Jewel — starts lime green and ends deep blue. The most contrasting in the series.
- Magical® Greenfire — pink flamed with green. The most tolerant of full sun.
- Magical® Noblesse — almond green, then pure white, then vivid green. The best suited to shade.
- Magical® Ruby Tuesday — from green to intense red. The deepest red in the series.
- 'Strong Annabelle' — Hydrangea arborescens with large flower heads on sturdy stems, to be cut back hard every winter. The hardiest.
- Hydrangea petiolaris — the only climber, for covering a wall in the shade.
Forever & Ever® is also available in Pink, Red, White and Purple.
Exposure & location
The hydrangea is a woodland plant: it likes light, but not scorching sun, which fades the flowers and makes the leaves droop from early afternoon.
- Exposure: partial shade, morning sun or light afternoon shade.
- Location: east- or northwest-facing terrace, entrance, against a wall, shaded courtyard.
- Hardiness in a pot: down to -25 °C — it stays outdoors in winter.
- Soil type: cool, rich and acidic — acidity is what preserves the blue color.
A hydrangea that droops at the end of a summer day is not necessarily thirsty: if it recovers in the evening, it is the heat, not a lack of water.
Watering & care
Its Latin name, Hydrangea, means “water vase”: it is one of the most water-hungry shrubs in the catalogue. In a pot, checking the moisture of the substrate with your finger remains the best guide, and an absence of a few days in summer should be planned for.
- Watering: generous and regular — every two to three days in summer, much less in winter.
- Water: rainwater or limescale-free water — hard water turns blue pink in one or two seasons.
- Fertilizer: fertilizer for blue hydrangeas or ericaceous plants, from March to July.
- Pruning: remove faded flowers just above the first pair of buds, in March.
- Repotting: into a wider pot the following spring, in ericaceous soil.
Removing faded flowers during the summer encourages the production of new flower heads on the current year's shoots.
Decorating ideas & plant combinations
Such a vivid blue is rare in the garden: it serves as a focal point on a partially shaded balcony, where few plants flower for so long.
- For a woodland arrangement, plant a Carex 'Ice Dance' and a Korean Fern at its base — the same exposure, with two fine textures that make the large balls stand out.
- To frame an entrance, place it on either side of the door in a Capi Nature Skin anthracite pot — the dark grey makes the blue appear more electric.
- For winter continuity, pair it with a Laurustinus — evergreen, it flowers from November to March while the hydrangea is dormant.
- For a softer pot, choose the Capi Nature Groove taupe pot — its warm tone creates a complementary contrast with the blue, more country-style than anthracite.
Let the last flowers dry on the plant in autumn: they take on antique blue-green tones and remain decorative all winter.
Verdeia tips
- Repot it in ericaceous compost: the hydrangea's blue color comes from aluminium in the soil, which the plant only absorbs in an acidic environment. A suitable substrate and non-limescale water are enough to preserve the original color.
- Never cut the stems in autumn: the dried flowers protect the buds from the cold. Wait until March to remove them.
- Water in the morning, at the base: wet foliage in the evening encourages powdery mildew, while morning watering prepares the plant for the hot hours.

Will the plant look exactly like the photo?
The photos accurately represent the variety and the stated size. Since each plant is unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or color may occur — and that’s part of their charm.
What are the delivery times and conditions?
Shipping is done within 48 business hours, with tracked delivery within 2 to 5 business days. Delivery costs €5.60 — free for orders over €50. You will receive a tracking link as soon as the package is shipped.
What to do upon receiving my plant?
Open your package as soon as you receive it and carefully remove the plant from its packaging. Let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering. If it has been slightly stressed during transport, it will recover its shape after one or two days in the light.
What to do if my plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the issue. Our team will assess the situation and offer you the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.
Can I return a plant?
